NXT-ID ports voice biometric algorithm to Wocket

NXT-ID has announced that it has successfully ported its MobileBio Voicematch algorithm to its payment and identity product, the Wocket.

“We are pleased we have surpassed this important milestone in the development of the Wocket,” Gino Pereira, CEO of NXT-ID said. “Authenticating users with our Voicematch speaker plus command recognition algorithm is a very convenient and user friendly way to use the Wocket while improving security over traditional authentication methods.”

The Wocket is a mobile wallet which uses biometric authentication, which according to the company, incorporates a touch screen and programmable card to use for credit, debit and other magnetic stripe functions.

“We are pleased with the continued development of the Wocket,” says David Tunnell, CTO of NXT-ID. “Our approach eliminates the need for passwords by authenticating identity in a natural way for users. With Voicematch, users can simply ask for a user-defined name of a card and the Wocket then automatically programs the NXTCard with the card of their choice.”

Reported previously, NXT-ID recently announced the development of its Voicematch algorithm for mobile platforms. According to the company, the algorithm was originally planned to be fully released in Q3 2014, but development happened quicker than expected, which prompted the earlier release. The new technology is capable of recognizing both speakers and specific words and can run on low-power devices.

In October, NXT-ID filed a patent application for the Wocket.
